Packet pick-up will be on Friday night at the pool starting at 4:30pm and will run until 6:30pm.
Welcome to the Stoneleigh Stampede 5k/1 Mile Fun Run information page! We hope that this will give you everything you need to know about the race. This year’s race will begin organizing at 7am and the official gun will be at 8am sharp.
Entry deadline to ensure T shirt size is May 10.
First, and most importantly, this is a race for fun, charity, health awareness, and camaraderie. Not a professional runner? Can’t do a 5k in under 15 minutes? Don’t even know why that last one is absurd? No worries, come one, come all, and let’s just run! While many of our athletes do enjoy a competition for bragging rights, that is by far not a requirement. If you have not done this before it is an amazing event and we hope to encourage anyone on the fence to give it a shot; you will not regret it.
Are strollers ok?
This is Stoneleigh folks, yes, of course strollers are ok! While this is especially true for the 1 Mile Fun Run, you are perfectly welcome to use your stroller on the 5k course. If you do, we simply ask that you queue up towards the back of the starting line or to the side of the pack so as to not get in the way of other runners in the chaos of the start.
This thing sounds amazing and I wanna help!
Perfect! Drop us a line. We always need help and will find something for you to do!
Athlete & Spectator Parking
Runners driving to the race are asked to park at Stoneleigh Elementary School located at 900 Pemberton Road, Baltimore, MD 21212. Here is a link to the parking lot:
Parking on the Course
The race course meanders through Stoneleigh and will be clearly marked on the streets for anyone who does not know the route. For those that do not, we have included a map to illustrate the course. For those who live on the route we would encourage you to park in your driveway the day of the event. There are a lot of people involved in both running the race as well as spectators so the course will be crowded. The less “extra” stuff we have on the course, the better. If you can take a moment Friday night to move your car, that would be greatly appreciated.
Timing
The 5k will be timed. For the safety of all participants, NO pets, headsets, rollerblades, rollerskates, skateboards, scooters or bicycles are permitted in either event. Strollers are allowed.
Race Results will be posted on www.charmcityrun.com.
Awards
Performance awards will be given to the top male and female finisher overall and in each of the following age categories: 10 and under, 11-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49 50-59, and 60 and over.
Beneficiary
The Stoneleigh Community is hosting the 5k as well as the Fun Run/1 mile walk. This year’s charity beneficiary is The American Diabetes Association. Half of the net race proceeds will be donated to this charity and the remaining half benefits the Stoneleigh Community Association.
Live Life Like Louis
For those who would also like to run in honor and memory of Louis Lowenthal, you may join team Live Life Like Louis in support of Action for Healthy Kids. You will need to purchase a Stampede ticket as well as the add-on for Team Live Life Like Louis.
Hons on a Mission (HOAM)
Our Stoneleigh based charity organization Hons On A Mission – reaching out from our HOAM to those in need, is collecting shoes for needy women, men and children. This includes used athletic, casual and dress shoes that are in good shape. New flip flops are also needed for use in showers at shelters. Please bring your donation to the stampede.
The course starts and stops in the heart of Historic Stoneleigh, the Stoneleigh Pool, 821 Hatherleigh Road. Participants will have a rolling course through the beautiful streets of our community. The 1-mile walk will be on sidewalks and is open to participants of all ages. Water, refreshments and lots of encouragement will be provided.
