Stampede thank you’s!

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

Hello again everyone! I wanted to shoot out a quick thank-you post for everyone’s participation in the 18th annual Stoneleigh Stampede. This year we had an AMAZING 565 athletes turn out to enjoy a beautiful Saturday morning with us. While it was a touch warm, everyone knew Rita’s was waiting at the end so they ran like crazy : ) A few notes from my end…

First, thank you SOOOOO much to all those who volunteered. As you know this is somewhat of a production so without your help this race would literally have been impossible. Not only do I love that you all make this possible but I also love seeing all of our neighbors come together for a good cause and have a blast together. Thanks again for all of your help and I hope I will see you again next year!

Next, a BIG thank you to this year’s corporate sponsors. Their logos are on the back of the shirts as well as on this website. Athlete registrations largely fund the race itself while the corporate sponsors make up the bulk of our charitable donations. Their generosity helps our neighborhood really make a difference in charities that are, for the most part, ones chosen for their proximity to our neighborhood – mostly because they helped someone in our neighborhood directly. If you have not already, take a moment to review those sponsors and, if your life needs dictate, please consider including them in your list of potential professionals. We would love to return the favor.

Finally, a big thank you to all who participated. Without your continued interest, this event would not be still alive and ticking. As this was my first year organizing this I have only experienced watching you all cross the finish line the one time. I sincerely hope to see you all again next year. It truly was an amazing way to start the summer season. Bring a friend next year!

As to housekeeping here are some important URLs:

(it is never too early you know)

A final thank you goes out to Ellen Sheridan who volunteered photography duties for the day! She captured some great shots of the day and I love that we have the following gallery to share with you as a result:

Honestly and truly I had a great time and I cannot wait for next year’s event! For those of you not aware, if you have kids between the ages of 4 and 12, our next event is Labor Day and is the Kid’s Try-athlon. Emphasis on the “try” part as this is an amazing kids event. If you would like to check it out, you can do so at the same website as the Stampede:

Looking forward to seeing everyone again either on Labor Day, next Memorial Day, or both! Until then…

Best,
Matt

New Combined Website

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

Welcome to the 2018 racing season! We are excited to announce the merger of the the now famous Stoneleigh Stampede and the Stoneleigh Kid’s Tryathlon into Stoneleigh Running. Merging the events into one group has helped significantly reduce the overlap between the races and has dramatically increased our ability to make both races even more amazing. We are looking forward to the new year and hope to see you all at one, or both, of our races. Please feel free to look around as there is a lot of new information here. While pretty much everything you can imagine is on the site, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. Don’t forget to volunteer if you want to help out. We can always use a hand. Here’s to an amazing 2018 season!

Thank you!

Well everyone, the 13th annual Stoneleigh Kid’s Tryathlon is officially in the record books. Despite a little weather slowing us down, the event went off without a hitch. We had a stellar turnout and raised $2500 for our charity Cycle for Survival. I think I speak for everyone involved when I say we are thrilled with the outcome. I would like to take a moment to thank the various people who helped make this a success.

This event would not have been possible without the support of our numerous volunteers who made the day safe and ensured all athletes were having a blast. It takes a lot of hands to make sure the course is set up, kids are not running into each other, the finish line is upright, and that everyone has a banana after. So much to do and none of it would be done without the volunteers so a big thank you to all of them. If you didn’t volunteer this year, you should consider it for next year. It is a ton of fun and you get a front row seat to the action!

As a non-profit, we keep race costs as minimal as possible for the athletes. Nearly all of our charitable donation comes from corporate sponsors. Thank you to all of our corporate sponsors who made it possible to not only hold the race again but to also make headway towards raising our contribution to our primary benefactor. We appreciate your continued support.

And finally, I would like to thank the parents who encouraged and supported their little athletes this year in the race. There were a few challenges and I appreciate your willingness to roll with the punches and get them there on time and ready to race. Given all that we do as a community here I understand it can be challenging to keep up. I am so glad you did for this race.

Thanks again everyone and I can’t wait to see everyone out there on the course again next year!

We need volunteers!

Hello all. As you know the race is coming up and we are very light on volunteers. Please go to the volunteer page and choose a job you are comfortable with. There are still a ton available so there is a variety of options. This race is only possible because of the help we get from our neighbors so please take a moment and help us out. Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Parking Reminder

The race committee suggests that residents on the following streets attempt to park their cars in their driveways on the morning of Saturday September 2, (and Sunday September 3 (rain date and will only be needed in the event of a rainout on Saturday) – this will make the course as wide and safe as possible, and may also protect your car from young bike riders!

Hatherleigh (between Wardman and Rich Hill only)

Rich Hill Rd.
Wardman Rd (Hatherleigh to Wellington)
Tred Avon Rd.
Wellington Rd (between Copeleigh and Wardman)
Thanks for helping us make this a safe and enjoyable ride for both athletes and spectators!
